Harry Potter Quotes That Have Gotten Me Through Hard Times

June 29, 2018

I distinctly remember my father and I finishing Chamber of Secrets the night before the movie came out, and my entire family excitedly going to the theater together.
I spent many late nights at book releases, movie premiers, and in Mugglenet chatrooms.
I used to only wear Harry Potter shirts. I literally wore one to meet Rick Riordan, author of the Percy Jackson series.
My room was covered in movie posters and handmade golden snitches.
I throw an annual Harry Potter-themed party in honor of the man himself's birthday.
I was Harry for Halloween (black wig and all). I was Rita Skeeter, Luna Lovegood, Narcissa Black. I dressed as everyone.
I spent money that I didn't really have to meet Bonnie Wright.
I cried as if I lost a friend when I heard of Alan Rickman's passing.
I cannot stress enough just how much I love the Harry Potter series.
I can't think of any fonder memories from my childhood, and I could go on and on about what the series taught me.
To save you the book I could write on my HP feels, I'm just going to share some of my favorite Harry Potter quotes that have helped me get through some tough times — both as a child and now:

  • "To have been loved so deeply, even though the person who loved us is gone, will give us some protection forever." — Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone (Book)
  • "This pain is part of being human." — Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix (Book)
  • "Anything's possible if you've got enough nerve." — Ginny Weasley, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Book)
  • "The ones who love us never really leave us."  — Sirius Black, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Movie)
  • "What’s comin’ will come, an’ we’ll meet it when it does." — Rubeus Hagrid, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Book)
  • "It is our choices that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities." — Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (Book)
  • "Worrying means you suffer twice." — Newt Scamander, Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (Movie)
  • "Age is foolish and forgetful when it underestimates youth." — Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince (Book)
  • "Don't let the Muggles get you down." — Ron Weasley, Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban (Book)
  • "Understanding is the first step to acceptance, and only with acceptance can there be recovery." — Albus Dumbledore, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire (Book)
Yours truly,
McKay
